HMM socks
Well Soctoberfest Starts today! I’m excited. I’m preparing!
I have never knit socks but have started collecting sock yarn, thanks to Lime and Violet! I hold them responsible for my new addiction! They keep talking about such yummy yarns!!!I may have jumped the gun a little bit.
But then I am still waiting on my size 4 needles to finish my skb. OK well I have the size 7s but they are on a hat, a bright orange hat I’m making for my niece. It’s what she wanted. I think the color is awful, but I’m plugging along.
I can only work on it for short periods of time, with sunglasses on.
I guess this will inspire me to finish, unless I just buy another size 7 16″ circular! HMM I signed up for a mobius class next weekend. I’m using the pattern from KNitty Gritty, I ordered the yarn yesterday, it’s cashmere!! YUM!
I think my stash is multiplying on it’s own!
Hi my name is Michelle and I am a yarnaholic fiber obsessed. OK so I was trying to clean out the yarn room spare bedroom and I realized that I have a fabric yarn problem.
This picture is only a small sampling of the mess. I should probably go on a yarn diet. I found a strangely large amount of fun fur!! WHY I ask myself WHY and what should I do with all this weird novelty yarn? Right now It’s in a box by itself, in time out. I couldn’t even bring myself to take a picture of it!
In other news, I’m moving along on my SKB, I did the collar, and now just have the sleeves to do. I think I did a pretty good job since this is the first time that I have picked up stitches. There is a spot or 2 that are curled a bit. I need to get 16inch needles for it, I think the 24″ will be too long. Hopefully I’ll get to my LYS to pick them up tomorrow. (Seeing my yarn stash of things I’m really wanting to knit-I need to finish this so I can move on!!) If I knit this again I would definitely make the next smaller size. I would also use a wool or wool blend of some sort.
Moving Right along!
Well the lace is done and I’m very happy with it! I think it fits pretty good. I could have stood for it to be a bit tighter, since the fabric is supposed to stretch. I did use one less decrease because I don’t want it to be too loose.
Here it is now. I just have to do the purl rows and then bind off. After I bind off I”m going to try it on again. YIPPEE! Then off to the sleeves. I was planning on doing short sleeves, but I have 2 full skeins of the plain silk left! So as not to waste it, I think I’ll make it long sleeved. Though I think I’m going to make the bell sleeves a little smaller, I don’t want them real big.
I spent much of the day yesterday sitting outside enjoying the late summer day and knitting. I was sort of sad thinking this is probably about the last day to sit out in shorts and a t-shirt and knit. I love to sit out on my deck and enjoy the weather! Today the weather is changing it keeps getting darker and darker. A colf front is supposed to be coming through, it was about 76 earlier and is supposed to drop to 60 for a high tomorrow. It will get me in the mood for fall knitting!
I have recently ordered some Socks that Rock yarn, in Highway 30 and Scottish Highlands. They arrived today, yummy. I haven’t knit any socks yet and am feeling the urge! I signed up for Lolly’s socktoberfest and am trying to hold off casting on until then. Plus I told myself that I have to finish my SKB before I cast on anything new! We’ll see how that goes. Aside from the fact that I have like 10 other projects already started! I really should finish a few others!
Hooray! the lace is done!
Hooray! I’m done with the lace!
I’m so happy! For some reason I couldn’t seem to get the lace on 7 stitches, I was doing mine with 9, with the YOs and K2tog and sl1-k1-psso. Can anyone explain to me how it was done only with 7. I just can’t figure it out! I’m very happy with how it came out. Esp. Since this was my first try at lace! I hope to finish the purl rows tonight or tomorrow and then try it on before switching back to the other yarn. If I knit this again, I think I’d just go with one color and not at the fancy in the lace. The sequins are kind of scratchy. I know that I will be wearing a cami under this. (I’m thinking a lt gray would be pretty.) but still. If I have enough of the reg. silk I think I will just use that for around the neck.
I am also still plugging along with the lucy bag. I’m working on the straps. I hope to finish very soon. It’s my take and work on in the car project.
My niece loved her purse I made her for her b-day. I will have to get a picture of her with it one of these days. She is away at college.
Frogging is so sad
Well I couldn’t bring myself to take any picts of where I had to frog my SKB, actually it wasn’t too bad. I messed the lace up good and had to rip back to repeats of it. It took my a couple of hours yesterday and today I plan to restart the lace. I need to sit in a quiet place. It was a pain to rip out the sequiny fancy stuff, bur for what I spent on the yarn, I couldn’t just leave it as is. Here’s a pict from before I joined. Don’t mind hubby’s lack of photo skills.
Also here’s a pict of my fun fun fun stitch markers. Notice a theme in the color? I still have stuff left over so I had to go buy some beads that weren’t blue or turq. They are crazy easy to make, I just love using the toggles, it makes so easy and your yarn doesn’t snag on them like they did one the ones I got that were made with jump rings!
Anyway I guess that’s all from here for now. I’m off to go knit some lace! Wish me luck!!
I went Shopping
Well I was inspired by the comments on the SKB KAL I decided that I’d try to make some of my own stitch markers. After a quick search I found Wormspit, he’s got great directions for making stitch markers! So off I went to the local craft store and bought tooo many beads.
I think I need to return some! Because I couldn’t find the toggles I wanted. (I didn’t want to use jump rings because I was afraid that they would snag, the one cutesy one I had snags). So I went to WalMart!
and wow they not only had the toggles, but a ton of cute, cheap beads so I bought a bunch there too! I did sort through and picked a few things to return to the first store. Like I really need to be able to make a thousand stitch markers….Any who here’s a peek at my first attempts.
They came out really cute. So I plan on making a bunch more this weekend. Everything is all spread out on my kitchen table!I’m still plugging along at my SKB. I’m working on getting my lst set of increases done. I WILL get it joined in the round this weekend!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Sleepy
OH I’m sleepy and have a Killer headache. hubby has my cold and is crabby! That’s an understatement today! We had openhouse today, I stopped by my parents for dinner (since they live like 5 minutes from my school) I worked on my Lucy bag there, still not finished..but my mom’s cat Dixie was quite the helper.
She had a ton of fun.
Then I had to go back to school for our open house. I have a whopping 4 parents show. One kid today asked me if they were serving pizza, because if there was no food they weren’t coming..NICE. Then hubby told me he might be getting laid off (combined with the cold gives hime the really bad mood) Won’t know much till January anyway. He’s a Tandem (that’s the big main frame) programmer, and there aren’t many jobs for that up here in Ohio. So that may suck.
Anyway I didn’t make much progress on my SKB I am to the last round of 2-9 repeats
I’m anxious to join in the round. But I’m just to tired to work on it tonight. I’d just screw it up. I think I’m going to bed, and then I’ll work on it tomorrow after work! A couple people are almost done with theirs already! They must be seriously fast knitters!
Yippee BNL
Yeah I just heard that BNL my fave group
is coming to Cleveland on Oct. 28th!! Yippee, Tickets go on sale Sat. I have to make sure to get online for them, Their new album comes out the 12th. I think I might pre order it at itunes. you get a couple of extra songs if you pre order. Hubby is going to have to get the tickets because I have my quilt BOM on Sat. AM.
On a knitty note, I”ve been working on my SKB
I’m to my 6th set of 2-9 decreases. I’m still plugging along on my Lucy bag too. It’ s my “car project” since it’s easy and knit in the round I work on it in the car. I wanted it done by Wed. so I can felt it with my booga bag, but I’ve been working on my SKB so I probably won’t have the other done. OH well…This is probably why I should only work on one project at a time!!! But that will never happen! I always need to have 5 million things to do at once!
I decided I need to get some fun stitch markers. A lot of people said they make them themselves…any thoughts??
Yucko Weather!
Well the weather here is crap today. It makes me fell like this : Taking a nap.
You’d think I’d be knitting away on my SKB. Our knit along started yesterday! If your intersted in joining stop on by! Pixie is running it and she’s up to 75 people! She’d like to have 100!
Well my cold doesn’t help either! I think fall suddenly came swooping in. I’m not quite ready for it yet! I did get my cord for my camera and can now hook up to my laptop without having to go to the basement! Yippee. DH of course corrected me that it is NOT a fire wire…whatever, I knew what I needed and found it at Comp USA. He however wanted to argue about it while there.. UGH men sometimes!
I am also working on the Lucy felted bag. I want to have it done by Wed. so I can go felt it over my mom’s house.
Here’s mine so far.
I’m using a yarn I’m calling pink chocolate, I think it’s malbrigio,I”m not sure of the brand name off hand. It’s 100% wool and really soft! I’m making the smaller sized version. OK well I better go knit some on my Simple Knitted Bodice…I don’t want my other KALongers to get to far ahead of me!!
