Behold the ribbi

Well the ribbi is done!  Here it is in all it’s glory!  My MIL sewed in the zipper for me because I know that she could do a better job with it than me!  Mine always come out a bit wonky!

Anywhoo here are the stats

Pattern: Ribbi Cardi from Bonne Marie

Started: June 2006

Finished: November 2006

Yarn: Highland Peruvian wool from Elann.com

Needles Addi Turbo (I use circulars for most things) size 7 and 9. I was dead on with gauge for once in my life!

The only modifications I made were that I put a bit of a stripe on the sleeves and made the collar a bit shorter and the sleeves about 1 inch loner than the directions.  I love it!  It fits better than any of my other sweaters to date. Now I’m waiting on the weather to cool down so that I can wear it!!

On to the collar

Well I seamed up Ribbi, and it really looks good. Dsc01096_1 Bonne Marie’s pattern is so well written. I may have blocked out the ribbing a wee bit too much but I’m hoping when I wash it, I can squish it up a bit.  I was worried about how the sleeves would attach to the body, but they went together soooo easily and so neatly! I went to sit and knit and took my scarf.  I need something easy so I don’t have to concentrate while there.  It’s more fun to concentrate on the chit chat. Anyway wen I got home I picked up the 88 stitches for collar and knit up about an inch before heading to bed. I’m doing it in the tan but am planning on tipping the last few rows with the blue. Dsc01101_1  Then the zipper.  AHH I hate zippers.  I still need to get ahold of a zipper. I hope JoAnn’s has one otherwise I’ll have to special order!

Last night at sit and knit they finally got in the pure and simple pattern Split neck T-shirt so I bought the pattern and then they had this really pretty rose beroco yarn that would make this top a nice holdiday addition to my wardrobe. Dsc01098   So once I finish the collar of Ribbi I think I’ll start this.  I also want to start the something red. I have the yarn for that too (and many others).  I ws listening to the pointy sticks podcast today…I was behind, but anyway she was asking if something that you have yarn for but haven’t started is a UFO..IF so I have about 50 or so…eeek.  I think it should be a USO (an UnStarted Object) Oh yeah I bought some gray wool for felted catnip mice for Christmas too….

So OK I was totally mezmerized by this.  My parent’s are on a cruise and they have  webcam on their ship.  So I kept watching their ship go through the Panama Canal today.  Totally cool!!!

Progress is good!

Well I kid you not I’m moving along on the Ribbi cardi!  It is almost done, so close I can almost taste it!!! Dsc01087Yesterday I finished the other sleeve, then blocked and then did the stitches for where the zipper will go.  I was sooo happy with how smoothly it turned out!  I was very proud of myself, no wrinkles or bumps where I picked up the stitches.  Since hubby was watching football I went up and seamed the sleeves and the sides.  I hope to get the sleeves attached to the body tonight!  Then to pick up the stitches for the collar.  I now need to get ahold of a 21″ zipper.  I’ll have to get to Joann’s I may just have to wear it with out the zipper if I get it done before I get ahold of one.

I also am working on the heel of my first Jaywalker.  OH and I finish cutting out the fabric pieces for my Whiteout quilt.

Progress makes me feel good!

Monogamous Knitting

I wish I was a monogamous knitter, or crafter really.  I have so many projects of various types in various stages of doneness.  I mean if I could do one (or even say 5 projects) at one time, I might accomplish something.  I mean finish all the way.  OK I did work only on the fetching gloves, but that project took like 4 hours. I should lay out all my projects in various states of doneness and take a picture.  OH wait, My camera couldn’t fit it all in in one picture!  Lets see even if I did it only with my knitting, I have about 7-10 scarves going right now.  Plus lets see…Ribbi, SKB, Abigail(which by the way may be coming out to large so it may have to go to time out), Tempting II..do that’s 4 sweaters I can think of  so probably 6 sweaters, and a pair of socks….That’s not counting the yarn with specific projects in mind…that be another 20 projects NOT counting socks!  I could move onto my quilting where I have about 4-5 Block of the Months, with the 12 blocks done ready to be put together into tops for quilting.  Plus a few that just need the binding sewn down, and the storage container of finished tops that need to be quilted, OH yeah I have a few kits there too. And I have stamps, and beading projects too.  I enjoy them all.  They are fun!

Please tell me that I”m not totally insane!  I do go back and finish stuff.  I guess it’s just my nature. I just wish I could make my self finish a project after I start-straight through.  Things would get done faster that way. But then I’m not enjoying myself and that’s the point of my craftyness.  It helps keep my sane and happy.  When I get bored with 1 project I go to another.  Like I”m bored with Abigail, so I went back to the last sleeve of Ribbi.  OK I told myself I’m going to finish this one before I start anything new…it is so close now!  Wish me LUCK!!!

PHEW!! It was close

Dsc01085Well they are done!!! and they are FETCHING! From Knitty summer ‘06 Like Lolly, I only had a teeny bit of yarn left! Dsc01084 I was glad that I didn’t need another skein for just a few rows!  These are too cute I’m still wearing them as I type!

Anyway, I used all but a few inches of 1 skein of Reynolds Odyssey in color 504.  There is 104 yards in a skein.  The colors match 3 of my winter coats.  I really enjoyed making them, and will make them again! They are quick and easy and OH so cute!

They are so fetching!

Well the fetching pattern is exactly that!  I did jump on the bandwagon and started one up yesterday.  And it was SO fast and SO fun! Dsc01081 I finished the first one in a few hours and immediately cast on for the 2nd.  I and almost to the thumb on it.  Dsc01083I plan to finish it today (unless I run out of yarn which is a possibility, but my LYS had several more skeins of the yarn I was using so I’m not worried).  I hope to go to sit and knit tomorrow and get another skein then in I need it!

I’ve also started my 1st jaywalker sock!  it is in love shades of pink and purple.  I’m using Berry Poppins from Lisa Souza . The dogs seem to be enjoying my progress on it.Dsc01079

I ordered yarn from WEBS for the Central park hoodie and Marilyn’s not so shrunken cardigan Because I don’t have enough projects and yarn already!  LOL I was starting with the Marilyn because the yarn was on sale, then I just happened to notice that they had the Tahiki Donegal tweed there too. I’m using color 843 a medium blue shade.

Fun, I just need more time to knit!!  Anway that is what I’m off to do now.  I was cutting out my Whiteout! quilt, plus trying to clean up the house some since we had another very busy weekend!  I’m off work today and hubby just called and said he was leaving early so I’d better get some knitting in before he gets home!!

I actually finished a pair of socks!

Hooray I finished 1 pair of socks during Socktoberfest! Dsc01064 I’m so proud of myself! I wore them around all evening! They are simple socks from Cat Bordhi’s circular needle sock book. They yarn is from Spunky Eclectic in a color called leaf litter. And boy does it look like the leaves blowing around here!.

Although I only knit 3 socks during Socktoberfest, I did enhance my sock knitting stash a fair amount! Dsc01067  I still have a couple of skeins of Socks that Rock coming too!  I plan on starting my Jaywalkers with some Lisa Souza yarn tonight….Berry Poppins is the color.

I’m still moving along with my newest sweater Abigail from Knit PicksDsc01061_1I have about 10 inches done.  Also I plan on casting on for the other sleeve to my Ribbi Cardi.  I’m feeling the need to get that done and worn.  I’m still debating on what/who I’m going to knit for this Christmas.  I don’t think I’m going to do much this year.  I may knit something for my Dad..a scarf perhaps, and maybe for my mom.  I was thinking about making a baby blanket (a very simple one) for my Bro and his wife who are expecting.  But I don’t know about that yet! (I am making a quilt for them for the baby shower) Plus I make about 30 ornaments for family and friends every year!  I’m making a cute little snowman bell this year.

OH and speaking of quilts, I just got a kit for Whiteout!  Whiteout I just thought it was such a cool pattern!  I cannot wait to start that one.

I did make it to sit and knit at Birds of a Feather.  I was bummed becasue I knew that Jeanne couldn’t make it.  I was hoping to meet up with her.  I had fun, but wasn’t sure which of the 2 tables I should have sat at.  Anyway, I’m hoping to make it back again soon, but I know I can’t this week.

Saturday night I went to See Barenaked Ladies, in Downtown Cleveland.  We had awesome seats.  They were on the floor but on the aisle so we weren’t squished or anything!  It was a great time!

I guess that’s about all the excitement here for now!  Trick or Treat tomorrow, and Parent teacher conferences on Thurs.  So a busy week!

I SWEAR I’m not…

I’m not going start something new, I’m not going to start something new…OK, so I am. Dsc01059 …I swore to myself I would not cast on for another big project (IE a sweater) Until I finished one I’m working on, such as the Simple knitted Bodice, the Somewhat cowl, the Ribbi Cardi…the countless scarves….But OK I am.  I’m swatching on my Abigail sweater, from Knit picks.  I bought the pattern and yarn at LEAST a year ago, maybe 2.  I got it and though geez this pattern is too hard for me…Well that was way back when.  And now I look at it and say Gee this should be a quick and easy knit.  On size 10 needles…It should make a nice basic bum around/walk the dog type sweater. The yarn is s oft but not as soft as other alpaca I used

I’m guessing this is why I don’t quickly finish projects!  HMMMM But I am a Gemini and I really always have a ton of projects going.  I’m not even sure if I could count all my quilting projects!  I need to seriously start finishing things up! I mean I have finished a lot of stuff but boy do I also have a lot going!!!!!

This is where I am on my 3rd sock of Soctoberfest..Dsc01063 I’m almost to the heel.  I am resisting the urge to start my Jaywalkers!!

I want to start my Something red Since it’s red ribbon week and I had to go buy a red sweater for tomorrow.  We are supposed to wear red to school tomorrow.  There is a theme for everyday of the week! But I resisted starting that!  I think I need to learn to knit faster.  I think I want to take a class on continental knitting!

Anyway after the weekend this is where I am with the Abigail sweaterDsc01061 So I’m moving right along….Maybe I should start something else… :-)

I have been knitting…

Well I really have been knitting, and I have a finished object ,OK , sock doneDsc01020, I worked on it a lot on Friday (I had the day off work) and finished it.  It is the simple sock pattern from Cat Bordhi’s  book Socks Soar on circular needles It fits really well actually and I have a few inches of the other sock done!  The color is Leaf litter from Spunky Eclectic, and I love the colors.  They really do look like the changing leaves! Any-who if you count my other sock, Dsc01022I’ve knit a pair!

I’m not sure I’ll ever finish the mate to the blue ones.  It’s a bit big and the toe is a little funny, and the yarn isn’t real soft..but I did enjoy watching the pattern show up!  Plus there is the whole problem with the skein being oppositely wound of the first.  I have bought more sock yarn, and I want to try toe ups and Jaywalkers ( I can’t be the only knitter in the universe who hasn’t made a pair of those!)

I need to get back to finishing my SKB, I do now have the size 4 16″ needles.  I did pick up the stitches for the one arm, and knit the rounds to where I’m ready to switch for the lace.  I have a lot of the silk left over so I think I’m going to go with long sleeves. I don’t want to waste that expensive yarn! and If I put it in my stash It will probably never see the light of day again!

In other news we got new carpet in our family room Monday.  DH and I had to move ALL the furniture out and paint, and rip up the carpet and padding.  Of and then of course he had to go buy a new giant plasma TV….I guess that leaves me open to buy a lot of yarn!  (The guilt I felt about yarn purchases when DH was in Vegas quickly disappeared!)

Anyway after that I felt like this…Dsc01015 Because we had to move everything back after that. So I didn’t make it to sit and knit and my local shop which I SWEAR I am going to get to one of these Tues. nights!!!!!

Well time for some good quality knitting!  I swear  I am going to finish my SKB before I cast on for another sweater!

What I did on my weekend…

Well with my hubby in Vegas I spent most of my weekend knitting!  Fun!  I probably should have cleaned more (but I’m sure I won’t ever think back, I wish I would have cleaned more and knitted less) Anyway I have 1 sock done from my Simple Stripes.  Dsc01007I’m still growling about the other skein being backwards.Dsc01004  I think I may just move on to another sock and come back to that one, never perhaps. I have more sock yarn, imagine that! I really want to start a Jaywalker , or Mock Croc with my Lisa Souza Berry Poppins yarn.  and bought another skein today, Cherry Tree hill plus I ordered some other stuff. More Lisa Souza and yarn for Sizzle, and Mentionables  from Kpixie I was kind of bad, With hubby in Vegas.  I figure I’m still coming out ahead of hubby.

I finished the bottom of my somewhat cowl,Dsc01009 now onto the sleeves and neckline, but it’s been sitting needing the ribbing for about 2 months. I bought size 5 DPN for the sleeves. and I now have my size 4 16″ so I can finish my SKB!

I also started back up on my Ribbi Cardi, I have the back and front pieces done.  I started the sleeve yesterday.Dsc01010

Also I started the somewhat scarf, with Malabrigio.Dsc01013_1  And the mobius cowl from Cat Bordhi when she was on Knitty Gritty.  I took a class, Dsc01011 I am glad I did! I don’t think I could have figured the cast on out by myself!

Well I guess it was a pretty fruitful weekend!  But boy did it go fast!!!  I’ll be glad for hubby to get home tomorrow, but I had a really enjoyable weekend!
