Behold the ribbi
Well the ribbi is done! Here it is in all it’s glory! My MIL sewed in the zipper for me because I know that she could do a better job with it than me! Mine always come out a bit wonky!
Anywhoo here are the stats
Pattern: Ribbi Cardi from Bonne Marie
Started: June 2006
Finished: November 2006
Yarn: Highland Peruvian wool from Elann.com
Needles Addi Turbo (I use circulars for most things) size 7 and 9. I was dead on with gauge for once in my life!
The only modifications I made were that I put a bit of a stripe on the sleeves and made the collar a bit shorter and the sleeves about 1 inch loner than the directions. I love it! It fits better than any of my other sweaters to date. Now I’m waiting on the weather to cool down so that I can wear it!!
On to the collar
Well I seamed up Ribbi, and it really looks good.
Bonne Marie’s pattern is so well written. I may have blocked out the ribbing a wee bit too much but I’m hoping when I wash it, I can squish it up a bit. I was worried about how the sleeves would attach to the body, but they went together soooo easily and so neatly! I went to sit and knit and took my scarf. I need something easy so I don’t have to concentrate while there. It’s more fun to concentrate on the chit chat. Anyway wen I got home I picked up the 88 stitches for collar and knit up about an inch before heading to bed. I’m doing it in the tan but am planning on tipping the last few rows with the blue.
Then the zipper. AHH I hate zippers. I still need to get ahold of a zipper. I hope JoAnn’s has one otherwise I’ll have to special order!
Last night at sit and knit they finally got in the pure and simple pattern Split neck T-shirt so I bought the pattern and then they had this really pretty rose beroco yarn that would make this top a nice holdiday addition to my wardrobe.
So once I finish the collar of Ribbi I think I’ll start this. I also want to start the something red. I have the yarn for that too (and many others). I ws listening to the pointy sticks podcast today…I was behind, but anyway she was asking if something that you have yarn for but haven’t started is a UFO..IF so I have about 50 or so…eeek. I think it should be a USO (an UnStarted Object) Oh yeah I bought some gray wool for felted catnip mice for Christmas too….
So OK I was totally mezmerized by this. My parent’s are on a cruise and they have webcam on their ship. So I kept watching their ship go through the Panama Canal today. Totally cool!!!
Progress is good!
Well I kid you not I’m moving along on the Ribbi cardi! It is almost done, so close I can almost taste it!!!
Yesterday I finished the other sleeve, then blocked and then did the stitches for where the zipper will go. I was sooo happy with how smoothly it turned out! I was very proud of myself, no wrinkles or bumps where I picked up the stitches. Since hubby was watching football I went up and seamed the sleeves and the sides. I hope to get the sleeves attached to the body tonight! Then to pick up the stitches for the collar. I now need to get ahold of a 21″ zipper. I’ll have to get to Joann’s I may just have to wear it with out the zipper if I get it done before I get ahold of one.
I also am working on the heel of my first Jaywalker. OH and I finish cutting out the fabric pieces for my Whiteout quilt.
Progress makes me feel good!
Monogamous Knitting
I wish I was a monogamous knitter, or crafter really. I have so many projects of various types in various stages of doneness. I mean if I could do one (or even say 5 projects) at one time, I might accomplish something. I mean finish all the way. OK I did work only on the fetching gloves, but that project took like 4 hours. I should lay out all my projects in various states of doneness and take a picture. OH wait, My camera couldn’t fit it all in in one picture! Lets see even if I did it only with my knitting, I have about 7-10 scarves going right now. Plus lets see…Ribbi, SKB, Abigail(which by the way may be coming out to large so it may have to go to time out), Tempting II..do that’s 4 sweaters I can think of so probably 6 sweaters, and a pair of socks….That’s not counting the yarn with specific projects in mind…that be another 20 projects NOT counting socks! I could move onto my quilting where I have about 4-5 Block of the Months, with the 12 blocks done ready to be put together into tops for quilting. Plus a few that just need the binding sewn down, and the storage container of finished tops that need to be quilted, OH yeah I have a few kits there too. And I have stamps, and beading projects too. I enjoy them all. They are fun!
Please tell me that I”m not totally insane! I do go back and finish stuff. I guess it’s just my nature. I just wish I could make my self finish a project after I start-straight through. Things would get done faster that way. But then I’m not enjoying myself and that’s the point of my craftyness. It helps keep my sane and happy. When I get bored with 1 project I go to another. Like I”m bored with Abigail, so I went back to the last sleeve of Ribbi. OK I told myself I’m going to finish this one before I start anything new…it is so close now! Wish me LUCK!!!
PHEW!! It was close
Well they are done!!! and they are FETCHING! From Knitty summer ‘06 Like Lolly, I only had a teeny bit of yarn left!
I was glad that I didn’t need another skein for just a few rows! These are too cute I’m still wearing them as I type!
Anyway, I used all but a few inches of 1 skein of Reynolds Odyssey in color 504. There is 104 yards in a skein. The colors match 3 of my winter coats. I really enjoyed making them, and will make them again! They are quick and easy and OH so cute!
They are so fetching!
Well the fetching pattern is exactly that! I did jump on the bandwagon and started one up yesterday. And it was SO fast and SO fun!
I finished the first one in a few hours and immediately cast on for the 2nd. I and almost to the thumb on it.
I plan to finish it today (unless I run out of yarn which is a possibility, but my LYS had several more skeins of the yarn I was using so I’m not worried). I hope to go to sit and knit tomorrow and get another skein then in I need it!
I’ve also started my 1st jaywalker sock! it is in love shades of pink and purple. I’m using Berry Poppins from Lisa Souza . The dogs seem to be enjoying my progress on it.
I ordered yarn from WEBS for the Central park hoodie and Marilyn’s not so shrunken cardigan Because I don’t have enough projects and yarn already! LOL I was starting with the Marilyn because the yarn was on sale, then I just happened to notice that they had the Tahiki Donegal tweed there too. I’m using color 843 a medium blue shade.
Fun, I just need more time to knit!! Anway that is what I’m off to do now. I was cutting out my Whiteout! quilt, plus trying to clean up the house some since we had another very busy weekend! I’m off work today and hubby just called and said he was leaving early so I’d better get some knitting in before he gets home!!
